Side by side
Comparisons
Every comparison here follows one rule: verifiable facts, sources named, and the other side's strengths played straight.
The short version, if you are choosing today: compare the security layer's named tests, the warranty's exclusions rather than its years, who actually installs, and whether the price is published before the sales visit. Each page below runs that comparison for one rival or alternative.

Daylight Steel vs. Boss Security Screens
Two companies that publish pricing - the differences are locality, mesh spec, and how the numbers are stated.

Years vs. exclusions
What the four warranties actually say
Advertised years are the headline; exclusions are the warranty. Nobody in this category compares the exclusions side by side, so here they are, from each maker's own published terms, with the dates we checked them. Full context on each brand's comparison page.
| Brand | Advertised term | What the published terms exclude or require | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vista Security Screens (what we install) | 10-year manufacturer powder-coating color warranty on mesh and panels; 1 year on hardware | Hardware (hinges, locks, closers, rollers) carries the shorter 1-year term, stated up front. Written terms attached to every Daylight Steel quote, and our own employees answer for the installation itself. | Aug 2026 |
| Crimsafe | 10 years on supplied materials | Published terms state the warranty does not apply to installation or to accessory products including locks, handles, rollers, hinges, and door closers; coverage is conditional on following the care and maintenance guide, and claims go through the original dealer with proof of purchase. | Aug 2026 |
| Titan | 10-year replacement, 15 with online registration | Product replacement only, so the labor to fit the replacement is not covered; coverage is voided if the packed installation instructions are not followed; pre-installed hardware carries 1 year. | Jul 2026 |
| Boss Security Screens | 15-year parts and labor, transferable | The longest advertised term on this page, and it transfers to a new homeowner, per Boss's pricing page. Their separate No Break-In Guarantee is a distinct program with its own published terms. | Jul 2026 |
The reading habit that matters: ask every vendor, including us, for the warranty document itself rather than the years, and ask who stands behind the installation as opposed to the materials. Those two questions sort the whole category.
Before you compare
The questions that decide it
How should I actually compare security door companies?
On paper, in four columns. First, what the security layer is and what named tests stand behind it, not adjectives. Second, the warranty read for its exclusions rather than its headline years: hardware, installation labor, and coastal conditions are where coverage quietly ends, and the details differ between every brand on this page. Third, who installs: the company's own employees or a subcontractor, because that is who you call when something drags. Fourth, whether the price you were told is written down. Any company should survive those four questions in writing; our answers are on the pricing page and in every quote.
Why do warranty years mean so little on their own?
Because the years advertise the best case and the exclusions define the real one. A long warranty that excludes hardware, excludes labor, or voids on installation details can be worth less than a shorter one with plain terms. The brand comparisons on this page quote each maker's published exclusions with dates where we could verify them. Ours, stated in full: a 10-year manufacturer powder-coating color warranty on mesh and panels; 1 year on hardware, with the written terms attached to every quote.
What happens to a warranty if the installer goes out of business?
The manufacturer's warranty on the product survives if the manufacturer is still standing, which is one reason a door built on an established system has an advantage: our doors are Vista Security Screens systems, a line that has been manufactured under three names since it arrived from Australia, and the product warranty is Vista's. The installation itself is only ever as durable as the company that did it, which is a fair question to put to every installer including us, and the honest answer is to judge the work at the measure, get everything in writing, and prefer companies that publish what they charge before they know your address.
Are these comparisons actually fair, given you sell one of the products?
Read them and judge. The rule every page here follows: only publicly verifiable claims, sources and dates named, competitor strengths stated plainly, and no numbers invented where a maker publishes none. Where a rival is genuinely better at something, the page says so - iron doors on sculptural presence, storm doors on weather sealing, alarms on notification. We think the honest version sells better than the airbrushed one, and if we are wrong about that we would rather lose the sale than the credibility.
