Security doors are usually sold with fear - crowbars, crime maps, houses dressed up like vaults. We started Daylight Steel because we think that's exactly backwards. The point of a great security door isn't what it keeps out. It's what it lets you leave open.

The facts, plainly

Daylight Steel is an Orange County company founded in 2026 by installers who have spent years measuring and fitting security screen doors across Southern California. That experience set the standard our install team works to, and the whole company runs on it.

• Every product uses marine-grade 316 stainless steel mesh - the alloy specified for boat fittings and coastal architecture. There is no cheaper-mesh version of anything we sell.
• Our pricing is published, and it is flat. One installed price per door and screen type, on the pricing page, and the written quote at your free measure matches it. Nobody haggles in your living room, because there is nothing to haggle.
• Measures and installs are done by our own team. No subcontractors, no marked-up middlemen.
• We serve all of Orange County - 39 communities, Seal Beach to San Clemente. The rest of Southern California is on our roadmap as the install team grows.
• Every door is built on Vista Security Screens™ systems: 316 marine-grade high-tensile mesh, knife-shear tested to Australian security standard AS 5041-2003 and salt-spray tested to ASTM B117. The powder-coat finish on mesh and panels carries a 10-year manufacturer color warranty; hardware carries a 1-year manufacturer warranty. Written warranty terms come with every quote.

We have been at this since the doors got off the boat

Woven stainless security screens started in Australia, and they arrived in America under a different name: Guarda. We were among the first installers in the country to work with them. We learned the product the practical way - one doorway at a time, back when almost nobody here had seen a screen door that couldn't be cut open.

As the product caught on, it changed hands. C.R. Laurence, the glazing company whose hardware is in skyscraper windows around the world, took on the Guarda line, and the rights moved again before the system became what we install today: Vista Security Screens. The name on the box kept changing. The right way to measure and fit these doors never did, and we never stopped doing it.

Today that experience is the company standard. We train every Daylight Steel installer to the bar we learned on those first doors - measure carefully, fit it properly, never sell a shortcut - so whoever from our team arrives at your house, the work is done the way we would do it ourselves. That is how a standard scales, and the company with it.

The standard we're chasing

When homeowners replace their windows, most reach for a name like Andersen without thinking twice - decades of earned trust have done the shopping for them. Security screen doors have no name like that yet. Our ten-year goal is to become it, here in Southern California: the default choice, earned install by install.

Why "Daylight"

We named the company for what the doors give back: the breeze, the view, the evening light. But the name turned out to describe how we run the business, too. Our prices are published. Our warranties are in writing. Our answers come before anyone visits your house. If a decision can't stand in full daylight, we don't make it - that's the test, for the doors and for the company behind them.

Look us up in California's Check a License database at cslb.ca.gov: Daylight Steel holds no CSLB license number today, the application is in process, and the number goes on this site, in the footer, and on every quote the day it issues. We would rather tell you that here than let you find it there.
