Terms of service

Short version: the website is honest, the written quote is the contract, and nothing here tries to trick you. The longer version follows.

Using this site

daylightsteel.com is operated by Daylight Steel ("we," "us") for homeowners and renters in our Orange County service area. The content - guides, comparisons, prices, and tools like the window calculator and quote funnel - is provided in good faith to help you make a decision, and we work to keep it accurate and current. Competitor figures are quoted from their published pages with dates and are theirs to change.

Pricing, quotes, and the order of operations

  • Published prices are flat, installed prices for standard residential openings in our service area: hinged $2,475, sliding $2,675, French pair $4,475, window screens $825 covering up to 8 sq ft of glass plus $100 per additional square foot.
  • Genuinely non-standard work - oversized or arched openings, custom color matches, frame repairs - is quoted separately, in writing, before you commit.
  • The written itemized quote you receive at or after the free measure is the document that governs your project. If this website and your written quote ever disagree, the written quote wins.
  • A $250 deposit reserves your fabrication slot and is fully refundable until the free measure confirms your final quote. The balance is due after the installation passes your walkthrough.
  • Estimates from the online calculator and quote funnel are exact for standard openings but are always confirmed at the free measure before anything is fabricated.

Warranty

Our doors and screens are built on Vista Security Screens™ systems. The manufacturer provides a 10-year powder-coating color warranty on mesh and sash panels and a 1-year warranty on hardware (hinges, closers, locks, rollers), from the original invoice date. The full written warranty terms accompany every quote - read those, not this summary, for coverage details. We stand behind our own installation workmanship, and we do not modify panels in ways that void the manufacturer's warranty (this is why we decline pet-door retrofits).

Building codes and egress

Information on this site about bedroom egress and building codes is general guidance, not a code determination for your home. We build window screens in egress-rated configurations and confirm requirements at the measure, but your local building authority has the final word.

Text messages

You can opt in to text messages from Daylight Steel by starting a conversation in the chat widget on this site, or by giving us your mobile number when you ask for a quote. We use texts for one thing: your project. Quote follow-up, measure and install scheduling, and arrival windows on the day.

Message frequency varies with your project. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving them, orHELP for help. Opting out of texts never costs you the quote, and consent to receive texts is not a condition of any purchase. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are never shared with anyone. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle the rest of your details.

Our content

The text, photography, and design of this site belong to Daylight Steel. Quote us with attribution all you like - we publish numbers precisely so people can cite them - but don't republish whole pages as your own.

The unavoidable legal paragraph

The website is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind about the site itself, and to the extent permitted by law our liability arising from use of the website is limited to the greatest extent permitted. Nothing in these terms limits the written warranties that come with an installed product, or any rights you have under California law that cannot be limited. These terms are governed by California law.
